Parking exceptions and parking ticket payments can now be accessed via the myMILTON app.

Long-term parking permits are not available in Milton; however, you can obtain a temporary street parking exception if you or a guest needs to park on the street in excess of five hours or overnight between 2:00 am to 6:00 am.  A maximum 18 street parking exceptions will be granted per plate per year. Please read the terms and conditions below before applying for a parking exception.

Terms and Conditions

Street parking exceptions allow temporary on-street parking for residents who are having driveway repairs, special functions or out-of-town guests.  Parking exceptions provide an exemption to the Five Hour and No Parking 2:00 am to 6:00 am by-laws. All other parking by-laws remain in effect.

Ineligible Vehicles

Street parking exceptions will not be granted for commercial vehicles over 6.7 metres in length or 2.6 metres in height.  For more information, please refer to the list of commercial vehicles which are not eligible for street parking exceptions due to height and length restrictions.

Exceptions will not be granted for school buses, commercial coaches, derelict vehicles, unlicensed vehicles (including vehicles with expired validations stickers) or immobile trailers.

Snow Clearing

During snow clearing operations the Town has the right to suspend street parking exceptions.  Parking exceptions obtained online are null and void during snow clearing operations. Your vehicle is never permitted to obstruct snow removal.

  • After Hours: If you are calling after hours, please leave all required information listed below on the voice mail system. Please note that after hours exceptions are only granted for one night and if all required information is not left, an exception will not be granted.

    • Name and Address of homeowner
    • Vehicle license plate number
    • Street that vehicle will be parked on
    • Length of time required
    • Reason for consideration

Email Option

Parking exceptions will not be accepted by email.

Received a Parking Ticket?

If you receive a parking ticket after obtaining a street parking exception, please contact us within 24 hours using the contact information on the left of this page. Failure to contact us within 24 hours may result in your ticket not being reviewed.

The Town of Milton permits maximum five-hour parking and No Parking 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on all roads unless otherwise posted.  Parking Regulations in Milton are described in detail below.

Disputing a Parking Ticket

If you wish to dispute a parking ticket, you must discuss the offence with the First Attendance Administrator in person.

Parking Regulations in Milton

Maximum 5 hour parking Limit

No Parking:

  • 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • On-street during snowstorms
  • In any area where 'No Parking Anytime' signs are displayed
  • On a grass boulevard
  • On a boulevard within fifty metres (50m) of an intersection and three metres (3m) of the curb line
  • Within three metres of a fire hydrant
  • Within one metre of a driveway
  • Facing the wrong direction on the road 
  • On or overhanging a sidewalk
  • In a manner that obstructs traffic, road repair or snow removal
  • On any highway for the purpose of displaying the vehicle for sale
  • In a space designated for persons with disabilities without displaying a valid disabled person's permit
