Secondary Plan Area

The Derry Green Corporate Business Park (Business Park II) Secondary Plan Area is located in the Milton Urban Expansion Area, east of the Bristol Survey (see map). It is the second of Milton's two planned employment areas that is being implemented as part of the Halton Urban Structure Plan (HUSP).The area is approximately 800 hectares (2,000 acres) in size and is bounded by:

  • North: Highway 401 and the middle branch of Sixteen Mile Creek (west edge of floodplain)
  • East: Sixth Line
  • South: Centre Tributary of the Middle Branch of Sixteen Mile Creek (north edge of Floodplain)
  • West: James Snow Parkway (Regional Road 4)

Derry Green will accommodate the majority of the Town's employment growth to the year 2021.

Official Plan Amendment No. 29

On June 14, 2010, Town of Milton Council passed By-law No. 067-2010, which adopted the proposed Derry Green Corporate Business Park Secondary Plan (Official Plan Amendment No. 29) under Section 17(23) of the Planning Act.

Official Plan Amendment No. 29 was approved by Halton Region on March 7, 2014.

Regionally Approved Secondary Plan and Official Plan Amendment No. 41

On June 14, 2010, the Derry Green Corporate Business Park Secondary Plan was adopted by Council and forwarded to the Region of Halton for approval.

On June 18, 2013, modifications to the Derry Green Corporate Business Park Secondary Plan were endorsed by Council and forwarded to the Region of Halton; requesting that the Region issue a final Notice of Decision approving the Boyne Survey Secondary Plan with modifications.

The Notice of Decision was issued by the Region of Halton on March 7, 2014 ultimately approving the Derry Green Corporate Business Park Secondary Plan by way of a Regional approval letter.

The Regionally approved plan was subsequently appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board. As per the direction of Council, staff has worked with legal counsel and resolved all outstanding appeals with the Ontario Municipal Board issuing an Order on April 2, 2015.

In order to facilitate the implementation of the Secondary Plan, it was necessary that a final consolidated version of the plan be prepared, combining the June 18, 2013 Town modifications with the Regionally approved policies.

In preparing the consolidated version, a number of minor typographical errors and omissions were identified. As a result, staff prepared Official Plan Amendment No. 41 (OPA 41), which is a housekeeping amendment which corrects these minor errors and omissions. OPA 41 also incorporated updates to the trail network on Schedule C-9-A.

On November 9, 2015, Town of Milton Council passed By-law No. 088-2015, which adopted Official Plan Amendment No. 41 under Section 17(23) of the Planning Act . Given no appeals were received, the by-law is now in full force and effect.

A series of technical background studies were required as a basis for the preparation of the Secondary Plan. The studies listed below are being reviewed by the Region together with the Secondary Plan and are provided below in final draft form.
